Anvil is a generic tool for the annotation of digitized video with linguistic, nonverbal and Other descriptive data. Annotation takes place on freely definable, multiple layers (tracks) by inserting objects with attribute-value pairs. The generic approach allows the application of various annotation schemes. It provides methods for cross-level linkage. It is independent, XML-based and fitted with an intuitive GUI.
TLA-team: Anvil is one of the most used tools for multimodal annotation and offers attractive functionality. It is used by a broad international group of multimodality researchers.
