Applying preferences across multiple eafs

Hi Han,

Is there a way to apply an updated .psfx file across multiple .eafs at a time (e.g. an entire corpus)? Or can updates only be done on a file by file basis using the ‘import preferences’ function?

Thanks,
Gab

There is not a “multiple file” variant of the Import Preferences function.

A few preferences are imported/copied as part of the Update With Template function, but maybe not those you want.
Are you thinking of specific settings to import?

Yes, we use a lot of colours to organise different sets of tiers (makes it visually easier to annotate). When new tiers are added, we update the master preferences file with their colours. Is there a way to get these preferences uniformly across all eafs without going file-by-file?

I believe tier colors should be applied to selected files when running Update With Template. But for that to work, it is required that at least one change is detected between the template and the file(s) to update; if the tiers, types, CV’s etc. are the same, then the function concludes that there is nothing to update and moves on to the next file. If only preferences are changed, this is not detected and therefor ignored.

Thanks Han - we just did an Update with Template and the relevant tier colours were updated (as tier colour was never the only thing being changed).
