Combining 2 templates?

Hello,
Our research team has used a specific template to code child gesture. We now want to add some additional tiers to each of the files we have previously coded in order to look at parent response to the child gestures. Is it possible to combine two templates together within an .eaf file? That is, can we combine the existing child gesture template with a new template (parent response to each of the child gestures we previously coded)? We understand that editing the existing child gesture template will not affect any other existing .eaf files that were coded for child gesture using that template. Our goal, however, is to be able to view all of the existing annotations associated with the original child gesture template while being able to add new annotations for the parental responses to those gestures.

First of all apologies for the delayed response, this forum has not been monitored for a while.

I think there are two possible approaches:

  • use Edit Multiple Files (in File->Multiple File Processing) to add tiers and types to all selected files. You have to specify the new tiers and types in that window (cannot use an existing template here).
  • use Tier->Import Tiers… to add the new types and tiers to each existing file individually, e.g. at the moment the new annotations for the parent are going to be added to that file. Here you can use a new template containing tiers for the parent.

I hope this is still useful.
