I found that it couldn’t import tiers from a file whose name or address with Chinese characters(I use ELAN5.1).

For example, if I try to import tiers from a file name with Chinese characters such as C:\CSL\手语.eaf, it doesn’t work, nothing happens. Or If I try to import tiers from a file whose address has a Chinese character, for example, C:\中国手语\SL.eaf, still doesn’t work.

What I did is to delete all of the Chinese characters in the file names as well as addresses, such as C:\CSL\SL.eaf, then it worked, but it was really troublesome and wasted some time. I haven’t tried yet but I believe that the same problem might happen if it imports other things from a file name/address with Chinese characters.

And, another feedback(sorry to not mention it in the topic because of the limited length) is about the mistake in the Chinese translation of ELAN. In the English version, the four branch items in TYPE of the main menu are Add new tier type/Change tier type/Delete tier type/Import types, but in the corresponding Chinese version, three of the four items are totally wrong except the last one.

This problem with the file paths has recently been reported by other users and it will be fixed in the next version (which, we hope, will be released within the next few weeks).

The translations of the user interface is provided by volunteers. If you could suggest improvements for the three items you mention, we will consider to include them in the next version (after consultation with the translator).
