Hello, this is the first time I’m using ELAN so I’m not super proficient with it. I know we can generate multiple tiers for multiple speakers on ELAN, but I was hoping to use saymore first to segment my intonation units as the Saymore interface is cleaner and easier to use for a beginner like me. I’d then import my data into FLEX to gloss, before finally putting everything together into ELAN to save myself some work.

The problem is that Saymore doesn’t seem to allow me to transcribe data for multiple speakers… Can anyone suggest a workflow that ultimately displays multiple speaker tiers in ELAN, but where I can still segment the intonation units in Saymore (or some other software) then gloss in FLEX to reduce my workload?

Did you already try the SayMore forum? I don’t know SayMore well enough, but if it is indeed not possible to transcribe multiple speakers in one transcription, the main problem is then to combine multiple transcriptions in FLEx, I guess?
And the main issue of having only one transcription layer in SayMore is that of overlapping speech? Otherwise it might be possible to transcribe all speakers on one layer in SayMore and then do the speaker assignment in FLEx?

Hi Han,

Thanks for your reply, I managed to figure out a solution to the problem.

Cheers!
