Multiple features in annotation category

Is there a way to include different feature sets with an annotation category?
Say, for a gesture categories of deictic, iconic, and symbolic, there are features of the form (single vs both hand, palm up, pointing), features of the function (emphasis, description, rhythm), features of action (emblems, task-related) etc. I couldn’t find a clear recommendation how to annotate these on a single gesture tier. Thanks in advance!

I guess the usual approach is not to annotate all features on a single tier but instead to create a depending tier for each feature.

E.g. if you have a (independent) tier for the gesture categories, you could have a depending tier for the form feature, another tier for the function feature, a third one for the action feature etc. These tiers could be of tier type “Symbolic Association” (one-to-one relation) and each tier could be linked to a controlled vocabulary containing the possible values for that tier (i.e. feature).

The above assuming the question concerns annotation in ELAN.

Thank you very much for your quick response. Yes, the question was about ELAN annotation. I was looking for some kind of specific property of the main category, but it makes sense to use specific tier types for different features and associate them with the main category.
