Silent Installation

I found the following command lines for silent install with a unattend file.

ELAN_4-1-2_win_install.exe -i silent -f installer.properties

However, the ELAN 4-1-2 software won’t be installed in the Windows system. If I double-clicked on the file, the file is able to executable to open the installing wizard. How can I use silent install for deployment? Please, be advised.

Unfortunately the version of InstallAnywhere that we use to create the installer for Windows does not support silent installation and we don’t know yet whether we can/will upgrade to a version that does support this in the future.

The latest version of ELAN 4.5.1 was relased recently. But the installer seems no support for silent install. Is that correct? I would like to deploy ELAN 4.5.1 for Windows on computers campus-wide. Slient install saves me a lot of efforts and time for installing on multiple computers. Please, be advised.

That is correct, unfortunately. Silent install is still on the wish list. It still has to be decided what software to use for creating such installer package etc.

Hello,

I am curious about the latest version of ELAN supports silent install or not. Please, be advised

No progress in that area yet I’m afraid, the situation is still the same.

Hello

I really would appreciate a silent installation possibility!!!

Regards

Hello,

Using AdminStudio I sometimes just repackage the .exe installer to a .msi file. This way it will respond to a silent switch like /q. I then distribute this package using System Centre 2012 over our institute.

But I agree a way of silent installation without repackaging it yourself would be most welcome.

Hello,

Has there been any update with regards to being able to use silent installation yet?

Thanks.

Nope. But if you want, I can give you my repacked MSI installer (ca. 91 MB)

For what it’s worth: the installers for the “FX” versions of 5.4 and later have been created with Inno Setup which supports silent installation. Yesterday a new version of the 5.6-FX installer has been uploaded, created with the latest release of Inno Setup. Still no MSI but might be worth a try (depending on the situation). Running the .exe with the “/?” command line parameter will show the supported parameters. Also see the Inno documentation.
