Can I specify different types of ‘Other” in the relationship category? Especially (a) how that’s represented in the diagram and (b) how the different types of other effect the outcome of searches / including & excluding individuals from the diagram output.

You can define any number of custom relation types, where you can specify a custom name as well as the relation type (ancestor, union, other, etc). Each of these can then have a stye with colour, line width and an optional dash etc. so that they are visibly different on the diagram.
The search queries can include kin type strings to include/exclude individuals, these kin types don’t as yet use the “custom name” of these relations but they can be customised to match any relation type (ancestor, union, other, etc) and any symbol.
