template corruption??

Strange experience with latest version of ELAN. Ability to make selections for annotations in the timeline was ‘normal’ for a while and then did not work at all. I solved the problem by renaming the template file and starting again with the same media bundle, but I am mystified! Any ideas out there? Another in our our class had the same experience so not my computer
Cheers

After an annotation document (.eaf) has been created based on a template (.etf), there is no longer any connection between the two. So, I would be surprised of changing the name of the template (.etf) would have any effect on the working of/in any existing annotation file.
I can image that changing the name of an .eaf file (without changing the name of the accompanying .pfsx file) can have an effect on the behavior. E.g. when looking at making a selection: this sometimes might not seem to work if the active tier is a time-subdivision or included_in type of dependent tier. In that case it is only possible to drag a selection in the timeline at locations where there is an annotation on the parent tier (a target parent annotation).
I was wondering if this could have been the case in your situation?
