time alignment of annotations/tiers misaligned from wave form

Hi,
Suddenly ELAN did something strange & all my annotations/tiers became misaligned from the wave form. So, when I click on an annotation, it gets highlighted in blue as usual, but instead of lining up directly with the waveform, it is several seconds off. Each annotation is misaligned from the waveform to a different degree. I’ve tried opening and closing ELAN and toggling various things with no luck.

Anyone experience this or know a solution,?
Thanks
Joseph

So, if you select an annotation and do a Play Selection, it doesn’t play the correct segment anymore?
I’m asking to see if it is maybe just a visualization issue. E.g. if (by accident) the “Connected” checkbox in the Timeline Viewer’s right mouse button context menu is deselected.
To my knowledge there is no function that has the (side-)effect of annotations randomly being moved several seconds in either direction.

Hi Han, thank you for your reply.

Not exactly. The times on both the waveform and the annotation are still the same, it’s just that it is visually completely off, sometimes so much so that the waveform is offscreen when I have the annotation highlighted. Details aside, it makes it impossible to work with the file. I checked, and the “connected” box is still selected.
If it helps I could send you a screenshot, my email is brooks.josephd@gmail.com

Thanks, Joseph

If the Connected checkbox in both the Timeline and the Waveform Viewer are selected then you can send screenshots to me. And maybe you can check if there are error messages in the log (View->) and/or send the contents of the log to me too (han.sloetjes AT mpi.nl).
